Going to the American Society for Indexing annual conference June 15 through June 17 in Portland, Maine? Come say hello! Richard Shrout and I will be attending, and would love to meet with associates, indexers, publishers, and any others interested in the indexing and editorial fields.
This year’s conference program is excellent, and features workshops for everyone from beginners to experts. Special subjects include military history indexing and biographies/memoirs, and there’s a wide variety of workshops aimed at the technical side, from software tools to techniques like editing an index for size.
Polish your business skills with many marketing and publicity sessions, time management techniques, and expanding beyond book indexing. The keynote will be given by the New YorkerMary Norris‘s , a writer, copy editor, and Comma Queen.
Finally, enjoy a chance to talk face-to-face with people to whom you don’t have to explain just what exactly it is you do all day!
Check out the conference page for more information if you haven’t registered already. We hope to see you there.
