eBooks
Digital publishing (for example, ebooks)—with specialized tools such as XML-based embedded tags and indexing for software like InDesign and Microsoft Word—creates a new set of challenges for publishers and authors alike. Your traditional for-print index won’t work as-is in an ebook for example, where “page numbers” suddenly become irrelevant. We find that many of our clients still value the judgment of human indexers and want to find ways to connect their indexes to ebook texts or PDFs.
Websites and Other Non-Book Resources
Indexing for non-book digital platforms, such as websites or mobile apps, requires knowledge of information architecture, taxonomy, and web analytics, which are also skill sets available at Potomac Indexing. With embedded indexing, rates vary depending on complexity and density of material; as with printed books, each project is a custom job. We’d be happy to talk about your specific needs. Just contact us on our contact page or email us directly.
